Viral Love

"Going viral" is considered a 21st century cultural phenomenon, but it is perhaps best epitomized by the 2000 year-old Jesus movement that still trends today. Jesus' early followers were persecuted, ridiculed, and killed for their proclamation of Jesus as the resurrected Son of God, but what could not be denied over the coming centuries was their sacrificial commitment to provide food for the poor, protection for the marginalized, freedom for women, and nonviolent resistance against oppression of every kind in their neighboring communities. It was not simply their message; it was their commitment to active, radical LOVE that uncontrollably spread the name of Jesus to the ends of the earth.

If you want to stand out, evangelize, "bring back the church," or simply make the world a better place, practice the viral love of Jesus: Feed the poor. Clothe the naked. Free the oppressed. Welcome the alien. Love your enemy. Pray for your persecutor.
